Yangtze River

For integrated pollution control work in the upper Yangtze, the project framework emphasized the need to consider key threats to rivers and employ straightforward strategies for coping with issues. The different components of the project – including the installation of bio-digesters, construction of artificial wetlands and better agricultural practices – provided opportunity for  stakeholders to select the aspects of the model that were most relevant to the circumstances of their specific watershed. Efforts are being replicated in other villages, and local governments are adopting these practices across the region.
