In the Rio Grande/Rio Bravo, work involved the participation of The Coca-Cola Company, independently owned Coca-Cola bottling partners and WWF staff from two countries (the United States and Mexico). Early on, partners from WWF headquarters (Washington) and The Coca-Cola Company headquarters (Atlanta) formalized processes for joint work. Yet, activities also were being independently pursued and decisions made at the local level in the southwestern United States and Mexico. In retrospect, efforts to harmonize planning should have been built into project plans. In spite of these challenges, joint events and restoration workdays helped strengthen partnership ties by providing opportunities to share experiences and enthusiasm for tackling future priorities.
