Along the Mekong, WWF organized a study tour for Coca-Cola Thailand to visit a project site and learn about conservation activities and benefits. As a result, many of these activities were incorporated into the company’s water stewardship plans and led to collaboration with local bottling plants in the region. In particular, the ThaiNamthip bottling partner participated in conservation events that not only built trust between WWF and The Coca-Cola Company, but also increased the bottler’s ownership in the project. Private sector participation was a source of motivation for the local community and government officials to take more responsibility for the conservation of the watershed.
